The outdoors community will be flocking to the Hiking Expo at Transcend’s incredible hiking and running event in the beautiful Avon Valley on Saturday 22 June, a highlight of this year’s calendar.
HikeWest is delighted to be partnering with Transcend to hold the Expo at the event finish line village near Cobbler Pool, west of Toodyay. Entry to the Hiking Expo will be free and visitors will be treated to a wide range of outdoors exhibitors, live music, and food and beverages from midday until 8.30pm (including a happy hour 7.30-8.30pm).
Come and soak up the fantastic festival atmosphere, visit the stalls, and share with the many event participants in the celebration of their achievements with their supporters. And why not add to the relaxing day by camping overnight in the nearby free public campground? Spend a whole fabulous weekend in the area, with time to also enjoy one or more of the several short walks in and around historic Toodyay.
This is the fourth year that Transcend have organised their popular hiking and trail running event. Transcend offers a truly unique experience for event participants, with special access to dramatic landscapes in areas usually inaccessible to the public. The course starts in Walyunga National Park and traverses two national parks, a regional park and wildlife sanctuaries, private properties and two local government areas, before finishing near Cobbler Pool along the Avon River. As they set out on their journeys, participants become immersed in the region’s vibrant winter tapestry, adorned with flowing rivers, cascading waterfalls, lush green flora, and wild fauna.
The Avon Valley region also has a strong cultural association with the Whadjuk and Ballardong First Peoples and a historical background with early settlers in Toodyay, including iconic figures such as Yagan and Moondyne Joe. Transcend aims to connect and educate its participants with all aspects of the region.
Transcend are again offering 6km hike or run options, a 40km hike and relay, and a 65km solo or relay trail run, and a kids’ dash. To participate in a hike or run, register now with Transcend.
