- Are you over 60 and interested in spending more time outdoors?
- Are you new to hiking, or would like to get back into walking in nature?
- Would you like to meet like-minded people and walk in the comfort of a social group with
experienced walk leaders?
Sounds like you? Then come along on a fun social walk with a club for only $10.
Over the coming months, member clubs of HikeWest participating in our Seniors Hiking Program will be running entry-level walks for newcomers to hiking. Join us for an enjoyable, accessible introduction to bushwalking, where you will have the opportunity to walk alongside existing club members and develop your bushwalking skills and confidence.
About the Seniors Hiking Program: The Seniors Hiking Program is a HikeWest-led initiative to encourage seniors to discover bushwalking and to remain active and socially connected, through participation in accessible, enjoyable, entry-level bushwalks in national parks and reserves within easy reach of Perth. It is well known that spending time in green spaces has a positive effect on health and wellbeing. The program aims to engage seniors who may already participate in urban walking, but do not currently hike or bushwalk. Participants can enjoy a range of hiking experiences and ongoing participation while making new friends and social connections.
HikeWest is grateful to the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries for supporting this program through a Hiking Participation grant.
